General Prayers For Animals

Here are just some general prayers and blessings for pets, along with one common prayer for already deceased animals.

Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for any who are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to sleep. We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us be true friends to animals and so to share the blessing of the merciful.

A general prayer for lost, sick, injured or dying pets, which is often attributed to the late theologian, writer and physician Albert Schweitzer.

Mother Earth, we return to you the body of one of your children. Her spirit will return to her ancestors, and she will continue to live in our memories. We are thankful that we were able to share our lives with her, and give her to your loving arms.

A general blessing for cats and dogs

Dearest God, Heavenly Father maker of all living creatures, we ask you to bless (pet’s name), who brings so much joy into our lives. By the power of Your love, enable him/her to live according to your plan. May we always praise You for all Your beauty in creation. Blessed are You, God, in all Your creatures!

Even though these are common prayers, it doesn’t mean you have to stick to them. In fact, many pet parents opt for saints like Cosmas and Damian, as well as for St. Gertrude. 3. My dog got into emergency and vet told he had a twisted stomach and dislocated organs. Surgery is not an option since he’s already 13 years old and vet already told me nothing can be done and I should just comfort him.

But I did not give up. I PRAYED AND BELIEVE GOD CAN HEAL HIM.

I attended the mass and pray rosary. Reflected on all my sins and ask for forgiveness. I also prayed for healing to Mama Mary, Padre Pio and Jesus. The morning after the emergency, my dog’s energy came back. IT WAS A MIRACLE. THANK YOU LORD!

For all fur mommies who are worrying right now, I encourage you to pray the Novena to Mama Mary and believe.
